I believe this is when that Old Serpent, called the Devil and Satan will take over the godless Antichrist, who will then kill the Two Witnesses. The Antichrist is then the (second) Son of Perdition (Son of Destruction).
The Two Witnesses will be back alive, though. In less than 4 days. :)

The eyes of some will be opened, and they will believe the truth, and repent.
Others, including “leaders and principalities”, desperate to avoid the obvious, will craft deceptive “explanations”. Many will eagerly join in believing the lie and continue in their familiar path.
Such has it always been — such is it in the present time — such will it be in the end times.
