PRESS STATEMENT
Nine years ago, Russia invaded Ukraine and seized Crimea – a clear violation of international law and of Ukraine’s sovereignty and territorial integrity. The United States welcomes the efforts of Ukraine’s Crimea Platform to focus global attention on Russia’s continued occupation. The United States does not and never will recognize Russia’s purported annexation of the peninsula. Crimea is Ukraine.

You ever notice? You don’t have to give such pronouncements about things that are obviously true. The state department, like a willful child, states it’s wishes as a fact.
Bottom line, Sevastopol will never be a NATO port of call unless it’s after a nuclear war.

Nope Crimea is Russian, don’t care what the clowns at the State Dept say. And almost 90% of those living there would say the same.

Thanks. This suggests Biden’s not about to discourage the Ukrainians from taking it back, if feasible. Welcome news, if this position is and remains official US policy.

Obama said it was okay, and supported it.

The Soviet Communist borders of Ukraine included Crimea so Neoconservatives support the Soviet Communist borders of Ukraine.
What does that make Neoconservatives?
Soviet Communists IMHO.

Trotskyites who eschewed democrats becoming tepid on Israel
Went GOP yet hate culture war and Christian righties and southern traditionalists like me
They love war yet likely few have ever even been in a fistfight
Now with woke neoliberals they form the uniparty against us
And are firmly pro Z and see Russia as an existential threat
I mean some have a very old grudge with Russia pre communism which they frankly liked over the Tsar
They are a scourge and NO NOT ALL ARE JEWISH !
The bushies por emjemplo
In before the virtue signalers
I was a fan of the New Republic ray in the 80s and watched some of Marty Peretz best writers march off to neocon nirvana

"Thanks. This suggests Biden’s not about to discourage the Ukrainians from taking it back, if feasible. Welcome news, if this position is and remains official US policy."
You're very welcome. It's been policy in Pentagon and State Dept. offices for a while, but diplomacy and politics were getting in the way of a loud and clear enough policy announcement from the Administration. So people advocating for Russian expansion have been repeatedly claiming that our government wanted Ukraine to give up Crimea to Putin.
Such rewards for the invasion, though, would, of course, encourage further expansions. Crimea is an especially important strategic location in several ways.
Thanks again for having a look, commenting and keeping knowledge of the announcement for more of the good written analyses and history lessons that you share with us. I enjoy reading them and have learned much from them.
