They should not only ban the ‘statements’, they should also ban the indoctrinations in all classes.

UNC is a heavyweight in the college basketball world so I expect other schools and businesses to take notice.

There. Fixed it. KU people have the same delusions of grandeur.

As you drive on I 40 toward Durham, you turn off onto 50/501 and feel the chill wind of the dark blue city of Chapel Hill.

This action might be a warm breeze

How many times can they withstand being called “racist”? Proper response is “Now, now, children. Run along and play some other game.” But that’s not happening.

If one or two major institutions make this same decision then the dam breaks and the DEI nonsense will slow.

I hope and pray so! UNC has made a bold step in the right direction.

Maybe this a reaction to the huge mistake UNC made by hiring the 1619 bitch.

Some people do not realize what a big step this is for a major university system. UNC law school was ranked #24 in the US News rankings. Each university has four or five similarly ranked universities which they compete with for students. UNC competes with law schools such as Notre Dame, UGA, Univ of Alabama, and George Washington Law.

In law schools for instance, if their current incoming law students’ average LSAT score is 164, they will be competing with other schools next year for students in the 162-166 LSAT scoring range (hoping for admitting more in the higher scale). If they drop the requirement for D.I.E. statements in their hiring, more conservative and higher achieving students will pick them over other schools since they can be more assured of being graded and rewarded due to their hard work and achievements in class rather than their adherence to woke principles.

Therefore, in order to compete, the other schools (the ones who have not gone totally woke) may have to drop their D.I.E. statements as well. The competition is stiff. You would not believe the creative methods an admissions department can use to try to find out what the average LSAT and GPA scores other schools have reached as students make their decision as to which school to attend. This decision really could have ripples that effect higher education overall.

Anyway, it will be interesting if student surveys mention this issue when students are asked to indicate why they chose UNC over other schools. Schools do these surveys and carefully review the results.

“Some people do not realize what a big step this is for a major university system.”

I agree. This has the makings of a dam breaker for the DEI mess. I have thought that once a major institution steps out and says, enough, then others will follow. I am watching the news for the next few weeks to see who else climbs on board.
