DENVER — The family of a 12-year-old auto theft suspect in Denver who was shot and killed by the vehicle owner say the man should face criminal charges.
Sometime Sunday, Feb. 5, the Denver Police Department received a report of an auto theft.
The vehicle owner told authorities he was tracking the vehicle using an app, and found it later in the day.
When the owner approached the car, he was "involved in an exchange of gunfire" with those inside the vehicle, according to Denver police.
A juvenile male drove the car, where officers found him suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to the hospital and later pronounced dead.
The Denver Office of the Medical Examiner identified the juvenile as Elias Armstrong, 12.

Charge the parents for contributing to the delinquency of a Minor
they tolerate a lot of crime as long as it’s not targeted at their “community”....
I call for charges angainst EVERY parent who’s minor kid is involved in a crime.

Don’t know if Colorado has felony murder or its equivalent on the books, but the late thuglet’s accomplices might find themselves facing more serious charges than auto theft.
Wow, a 12 year old criminal who’s now dead. The parents of the dead pre-teen must be morons! My 12 year old daughter is in her bedroom reading before she goes to bed. Parents can’t be friends with their kids. We are supposed to teach them how to be great adults. Unfortunately, most parents try to be friends with their kids.

The time to get upset is BEFORE your child steals a vehicle and shoots at someone. If the parents had instilled some discipline in their child and made sure he was at home doing chores, homework, or playing ball outside, he wouldn’t have been shot. How hard is that to understand?

Elias’s sister should have instilled that attitude in her brother. Stealing a car was not worth someone losing their life over. So, why did he take that risk?
You roll those dice, and you take your chances. He chose poorly by rolling those dice in the first place.
I have no sympathy for people who are killed because think they are entitled to take property from hard-working people just because they want it.
