A couple more COVID-like releases by China and WHO should rectify the Social Security problem rather quickly.

A decade go, that would have been a joke. Now?!

This is why we NEED immigrants, to keep the Ponzie scheme going.

But not the illegal aliens currently being allowed to invade.

We need vetted immigrants who see the USA as the land of opportunity, not the land of the handout.

If we didn’t have tens of millions of immigrants sopping up resources we could just have natural population growth instead.

>>America has the lowest taxes of any advanced nation<<

That is factually untrue. America has the HIGHEST taxes of any advanced nation.

I don’t know whether Krugman is the dumbest economist on the planet or the most dishonest. Probably both

First, he says the CBO's projections about future costs for the two programs might be inaccurate because the agency is assuming that health care costs will continue to grow faster than the economy as a whole. At best, that means postponing insolvency by a few years.

I am not an economist so someone please explain to me how the growth of healthcare cost outstripping the growth of the economy could possibly postpone insolvency.

This seems like a classic non sequitur

Krugman is a classic BIG GOV’T STATIST. He hates the private sector.

Social Security never had to be a Ponzi scheme. But when it was drawn up, very few people lived long enough to make a significant withdrawal of the funds that had been deposited. Retirement age was arbitrarily set at 65, when average life expectancy was less than 60 years.

The supposed “Lockbox funding” has been raided time and time again, for short-time contingencies, supposedly to be paid back in the future, but to date, none of the pilfered funds has ever been restored. All there is in the “lockbox” are a bunch of IOU’s, now worth about as much as the paper upon which they were printed, or in today’s digital world, the computer storage space on a server somewhere.

Social Security is most likely sustainable.

MEDICARE & MEDICAID ARE NOT.

You cannot give out groceries-—rent—house down payments out of Medicaid and keep that going.

ALSO-—Health services for MILLIONS of INTRUDING ILLEGAL INVADERS isn’t sustainable NOR fair to tax paying Americans.

The financial industry at the time warned the FDR Ivy League geniuses it was not sustainable. However, by the time that happened they would dead, and it would be someone else’s problem.

Oh dear! We are in trouble! If Krugman states or predicts something, you can count on reality being the exact opposite.

Second, he speculates that mortality rates might continue to drop. While that might be good news from an actuarial perspective, it seems both morally horrifying and incredibly risky to base a long-term entitlement program on the assumption that more people will die at a younger age.

Boy is Krugman lucky this is happening for him.

Unfortunately it is happening to Americans at an inconvenient age.

Americans are dying more frequently between the ages between 20 an 40 at a 40% higher rate from heart attacks than before COVID.

This is a prime age for paying in to SS and not receiving SS.

Tough luck Jack.

SS is totally sustainable, as sustainable as fiat currency.

Since 1789 to 2021, the US deficit total (+/-’s summed together) amounts to $21 Trillion. We’ve NEVER paid a plug nickel in principle... only accumulated it.

It would take the flick of a few key strokes to enter into the US ledger any amount to SS. The only reason today that seems not possible is that there is so much “news” that SS is “unsustainable”.

But, the reality is fiat is not sustainable as it was designed to fail, and therefore SS is not either. Both should fail at the same time.

Oh, did I mention NESARA? Waiting in the wings to deal with the mess that fiat has created.
