“other than the economic strangle hold they have on us”

Yeah, that’s a myth. China is just as dependent on imports from the West as we are on exports from China. In fact, I think we’d fare much better in the event of a wartime trade stoppage than they would, since we can source the stuff they provide us from a number of alternatives, whereas if they lose our imports, they can’t replace them and they depend on those imports to run their manufacturing, so they would also have no more exports to sell to anyone else.

Have you ever tried to buy anything at a hardware store that isn’t made in China or maybe Taiwan? When was the last time you saw any item of clothing with the label, Made in the USA? Given the deterioration of our industrial base, we would be hard pressed to ramp up war production as we did in the two World Wars and the North did in the Civil War. Given what has been given away to Ukraine, we are now in a deficit in ammunition and arms. Do we have the machine tool capacity to rapidly increase firearms, airplane, and vehicle production?

I’m debilitated without my Chinese arthritis medicine. Know anyone who takes prescription medicine? Glad you slept through the last three years of the American economy being buffeted and hammered by Chinese supply delays. Cut it all off and we’d be great! That’s rich. I guess I just fell for that crazy MAGA line.
