Former U.S. Senator Patrick Toomey (R) has been appointed to the board of directors of Apollo Global Management Inc., a firm that controls about $548 BILLION in assets... While in the Senate, he served on the Banking, Budget, Finance and other committees.

Remember what Project Veritas revealed in the Pfizer undercover expose that got James O'Keefe ousted.

The Pfizer executive said that US regulators go easy on the companies they regulate because they all intend to join those companies after they leave government service.

I think this is the real reason why the Deep State needed O'Keefe gone. This arrangement between Toomey and Apollo was likely finalized long before Toomey announced he would not run for reelection.
