I agree that’s something to watch for, the mega-church idea.
People were answering alter calls at Asbury.
Generally that is people who have fallen away and wish to
rededicate, or new converts.
That seems pretty wholesome to me.

Yeah. A spontaneous outbreak of worship is a beautiful thing, but at a certain point . . .

Right. He's a bureaucrat and to a bureaucrat, this revival looks out of control and dangerous.
How does he (the President) explain this to his Board of Trustees?
To: CFW
In fact, I'll bet the President has been getting calls from members of his Board of Trustees asking him what the hell is going on over there at the University.
"What has this revival got to do with the University?" "Bring this revival to a halt ASAP, before it really gets out of hand!"

I already died, crossed over to Heaven, met God, and returned to this body...
I’m not worried... nor do I fear death.

“Can someone tell me what evidence they saw that this was getting out of hand?”
I wouldn’t be able to tell you as I only saw short videos a few times. It looked harmless to me, but maybe there were other campus-related issues.

I can’t either, but it isn’t that unreasoned for the school
to ask for it to stop. If the church is large enough, and
they aren’t affecting other areas of the campus, that might
be a hard sell.
If people at the leadership level in this even are going
off the path, then that would also be a reason.
These days church leaders can have some pretty interesting
doctrinal beliefs, which could go both ways here.

They killed Jesus, if I remember correctly. The students don’t have the “third day option”.

In time they will, if the third option is live, die, or
be resurrected.
Sorry if you had another third option in mind.

Just ran into an update from Asbury College.
Classes have been cancelled for the week, and two additional
chapels are being dedicated to the project to handle overflow.
The main church will still be used as the primary site.
Interesting.

This was posted 16 hours ago, Pacific Time, so that seems
to have been superseded by the news on this thread.
Sorry for the confusion.

A young preacher out of North Carolina use to hold crusades for months ata time in cities as did ones before him. Churches not so long ago would hold revivals every night for a week or two in duration often several times a year. BTW I’m talking about our nation from 1900- The Great Society era. Billy Sunday was one of the earlier ones and Billy Graham in his earlier years held crusades lasting for weeks. Why do people now find it so odd? Granted this is a university but it is also a church connected university. Harvard, Yale, and many other once church ran institutes, could use a good old fashioned Tent Revival.

Haven't we seen enough (TBN, Jimmy Swaggart, Benny Hinn, Hillsong, Toronto Airport, Brownsville-Pensacola) of these rock music pep rallies? Get everyone hyped into hysteria (laughing, shouting, crying, speaking in tongues) and call it "of the Lord."
They waited at Hillsong New York, Hillsong Australia, etc. Now, common unbelievers are shaking their heads at the utter gullibility of Christians.
Humility and brokenness can be easily contrived.
The same ol'-same ol' and yet you say time will tell?

Ye shall know them by their fruit. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?
That tree has orange fruit the size of hardballs. My guess is that they're oranges.
