February 18, 2023 / 3:25 PM / CBS News
Former President Jimmy Carter is receiving hospice care at his home, the Carter Center announced Saturday. He made the decision after a series of short hospital stays, the center said in a statement.
This is a developing story and will be updated.

He was a disaster as president-the reason that many young working class couples with little cubs had to work long hours/extra jobs to afford a home, utilities, gas, etc-my hubby worked an extra job for 2+ years...
But he has put up a good long fight against cancer, with dignity and courage-may God bless him with peace for that...
My first thought was holy scheiße.
Bibi was not involved in Israeli politics until several years after Carter was ‘retired’.
Netanyahu was working in investments in Boston when Carter was president, IIRC.
“Sad to hear but.. he’s 98”
My Father let us yesterday. Two months short of 95. USN 1947-1951
I remember him applauding a nephew a few years ago for trying to do in Trump politically.
Sorry, I don’t have kind feelings towards him.
“left”
I don’t hate him, or anyone. I hope all to come to a saving relationship with Christ. But on his role in this world, he promoted communist China, including by glossing over its human rights record for the sake of free trade:
Renew China’s Trade Status By Jimmy Carter — April 29, 1991
This op-ed by former U.S. President Jimmy Carter was published April 30, 1991, by The New York Times.
ATLANTA - China presents the American Government and people with one of their more difficult and important international relationships. It is extremely valuable to have continuing trade and cooperation with this nation of more than a billion people, for its strategic influence is crucial to stability, peace and progress in Asia.
Yet, it is not possible to overlook the conclusion and aftermath of the Tiananmen Square confrontation of June 1989, which resulted in the deaths of several hundred demonstrators.

I made it clear that I was speaking as a private citizen and a friend of the Chinese people. My repeated public and private suggestions were relatively simple and clear. One was that Chinese students be guaranteed the right to visit their home country with impunity from detention or legal action and be permitted to return to their studies abroad. The other was that amnesty be granted to all those involved in the events of June 1989 who did not commit crimes of violence. I also proposed that no further trials be held and that imposed sentences be reduced or commuted.

They (and leaders in other socialist countries) point out, correctly, that there is a wide range of human rights, some of which are respected in their countries and neglected in the U.S. These include the right to have a decent home, a job and adequate health care.
It is self-satisfying for us Americans to emphasize freedom of speech, the press, religion and assembly as the only important human rights. In fact, each nation has a right, perhaps even a duty, not only to correct its own human rights failings but also to address problems in other countries.
A reconciliation between our countries is very important. Most-favored-nation trade status should be extended, and trade and visitation encouraged...

“But, his gentle spirit aged well.”
I think that is a media creation. Like Barak being smart and wise. Carter said some mean things after his presidency.
May Almighty God provide healing, comfort, and peace to Mr Carter and his family.
So he’s not going to live to see the finish of what he started?
Just as well that he check out WITHOUT seeing the degree of Neocon Fascism that has taken over the Democrat Party (along with the leadership of the GOP), as he spent his years at the top job trying his best (although making mistakes at it) to PREVENT war with the Soviets, rather than provoke war with Russia, as we have to deal with today.
Dang
And his daughter Amy despite an early youthful fling with liberal idealism, matured and distanced herself from it all. She leads a normal family life out of the limelight.
Prayers up for Jimmah and his family.
Really?
He brought US brought US voting machines from Venezuela.
Yes, see my post 47.
He supported Most Favored Nation status for China, downplaying the Tiananmen Square Massacre and talking up socialist regimes.
I never got the feeling that Carter was a complete idiot or was evil. He had genuine humanitarian motives, and acted on them. In other words, Carter in his prime would be canceled by the current Democratic Party.
Supposedly it said “They know everything. Sorry, H”. Everyone who got an envelope is part of the uniparty evil cabal.
