Sen. Mitt Romney told disgraced Rep. George Santos he didn’t “belong” in the House chamber in a tense exchange ahead of Tuesday’s State of Union address.
Romney scolded the freshman lawmaker for taking a prime and highly-visible, center-aisle seat in the chamber as members of Congress piled in for President Biden’s speech.
“You don’t belong here,” the Utah Republican said to Santos, who had admitted to lying about parts of past and is facing several investigations into his campaign finances.
The pair apparently exchanged words, though Romney later said he didn’t hear it all.
“He shouldn’t be in Congress, and they are going to go through the process and hopefully get him out,” Romney told reporters of the New York representative after the address. “But he shouldn’t be there, and if he had any shame at all he wouldn’t be there.”
Santos, also a Republican, took to Twitter to fire back at Romney.
“Hey @MittRomney just a reminder that you will NEVER be PRESIDENT!” he tweeted at the former presidential nominee.

Romney reinvents himself every four years. He’s a bigger phony than Santos.
Its the Republican House leadership's job to deal with Santos, not the Senate. Romney has no say and no business getting involved other than to draw attention to himself, as usual.

Be belongs there as much as any other politician who lied to get elected.
Hey Romney, he has more of a right to be in the House chamber than youby being a member of the House. Senators are invited as a courtesy into the House for the State of the Union. Any other time you couldn’t set foot in the chamber.

Mitt, that you’re in the senate pretty much guarantees that everyone and anyone is qualified for office. You are a jealous petty little man with poor integrity.
If they can take out Santos, that leaves them with a two-vote swing, and we have plenty of swing voters on our side who may be tempted to buck the party from time to time.
Besides, if they can take out Santos, they will likely ramp up their machine to target others until they can retake the majority.
It's just how the Democrats roll, and we will have to suck it up and tolerate our own bad seeds when things are this close and Democrats are ruthless at playing small ball.
And we don't need RINOs in the Senate interfering with maintaining our majority in the House. Somebody tell Romney that McConnell doesn't belong there anymore, either, but we gave up our leverage in that chamber.

You must be joking. Santos is a sociopath and a degenerate. It’s shameful he was even seated, let alone given committee assignments.
