With all due respect, I’m not sure you can. If you don’t think DeSantis is playing for Team-Establishment, I think you need to look a little harder. Fooling the base is the GOP’s specialty. With DeSantis, the grift has become more sophisticated in that they’ve given DeSantis the leeway, to a limited degree, to govern in ways that seem to defy the Establishment. This whole Disney thing is a good example. Looks impressive on the surface, but DeSantis has already, quietly started to walk back portions of his original stance.
As far as Covid policy - DeSantis was less strict with lockdowns than most. But was he really defying the Deep State by being less restrictive regarding COVID? If the main purpose behind the COVID op was to steal the election by going to universal mail-in voting, they could afford to let DeSantis be the exception, seeing as the Democrats have found ways to win, through cheating, without winning Florida. It served their purposes more, to allow DeSantis to play the role of the independent governor taking on the deep state.
