I’d like to see Trump return as president.
The problem is that Trump previously ridiculed actual primary opponents, and most Republicans had reservations about Cruz and Rubio.
Most Republicans consider DeSantis to be a superstar, and don’t want to see him diminished.

Also it’s a different time. Some Republicans who found Trump fun as an outsider in 2016, are annoyed he didn’t behave better as a President seeking reelection.

I happen to think Trump did behave well in 2020, but I don’t like the tactics now.

Whatever. I have a sad feeling time has passed Trump by.

I was ok with suggesting Cruz’s father assassinated Kennedy, crazy as that was.

Don’t like trashing DeSantis.

And really, who can blame them? There are certain norms and standards and protocols that people just associate with the bearing of the office. Even that drooling half-a-moron Joe Biden has the good sense to just disappear sometimes. It is quite literally the only thing he's good at.

I remember I used to pray that Trump would just stay off Twitter when things were going okay. But sure as hell, there he was tweeting about Joe Scarborough's ditzy wife bleeding from her chin at Mar-A-Lago from plastic surgery.

Time and again I heard even the most die-hard Trump supporters say they wished he would stay the hell off Twitter or turn his Twitter account over to a staffer who was halfway literate. But just like those ridiculous COVID press conferences, he could never not be the center of attention, even when it was a train wreck.

In 2016, Trump promised that if elected, he would be the most boring POTUS, focused on policy and leading the nation.

He lied about that as well.

Well, you'd better get used to it. If DeSantis runs and gets the nomination, the left will come down on him like a mountain of bricks. Right now they are holding their fire, as they gather dirt, real or fabricated.

They hate DeSantis as much as they hate Trump, but I believe they would rather run against DeSantis.

Since that picture is out, DeSantis will have to deal with it. If he doesn't do that now, it will come back to haunt him later when it will do more damage.
