Then shut down the government or default. Do what you must.

There is often an alternative to calling in an air strike on your own position. Much can be achieved with a blend of cunning and finesse, perhaps most especially in politics.

Debt as a percentage if the GDP is a key measure.
1) We can reduce the debt.
2) We can reduce the rate of growth of the debt.
3) The Feds can sell off assets, sell of the USPS, etc
4) we can increase the GDP.

#1 is political suicide.
#2 is suicide for some. Would you agree to a cut in your favorite spending? Or only in the other guy’s favorite spending?
#3 The Feds have a lot of underused assets that would bring hundreds of billions, putting them on the taxpaying rolls.
#4 This was the focus of the Trump Plan... Even the parts that were poorly thought out or poorly implemented had this intention. Trump’s cut back of the over regulation of the economy was a major success and proved it could be done without the boogey man getting us.

Far bigger and far more obvious.

Well that’s a bad threat to our future, Kevin, Yes.

But your body, the U.S. Legislature, and the ones that come out of it to rule the Executive Branch are by far the greatest threat to our future.

Well, I mean, we know there won’t be a democrat congress to eliminate the cuts. But then, if democrats are smart, they will let the spineless republicans eliminate the cuts. It’s a win-win for the democrats.

Regarding national debt, why doesn't McCarthy effectively exercise one person "majority" power like Pelosi did, but this time by publicly pointing out Supreme Court clarification of Congress's constitutionally limited power to tax and spend?

From related threads...

The bottom line...

All MAGA patriots need to wake up their RINO federal and state lawmakers by making the following clear to them.

If they don’t publicly support either a resolution, or a Constitutional Convention, to effectively "secede" ALL the states from the unconstitutionally big federal government by amending the Constitution to repeal the 16th (direct taxes) and 17th (popular voting for federal senators) Amendments (16&17A), doing so before the primary elections in 2024, that YOU will primary them.

If the proposed amendment was limited strictly to repealing 16&17A, relatively little or ideally no discussion would be needed before ratification of the amendment imo.

With 16&17A out of the way, my hope is that Trump 47 becomes the FIRST president of a truly constitutionally limited power federal government.

In the meanwhile, I'm not holding my breath for significant MAGA legislation to appear in the first 100 days of new term for what may still prove to be another RINO-controlled House.

Trump will hopefully do another round of primarying RINOs for 2024 elections.

We need massive government cuts. We can hope to increase the gdp, but the consideration is minus government spending. As of now, politicians on one side of the other brag about gdp, but they ALL have increased government spending and debt to reach growth. There is no serious solutions on the r and d side. The battle against interest rates and exponential debt growth will destroy any future prosperity. We've been running our economy via debt stimulus for decades, without 'real' growth.

Tax cuts did improve revenue. But spending went up by factors more so of course the deficit is ballooning.

The debt is a huge problem but it’s not the number one problem. Our biggest problem is we’ve turned our backs on God as a nation. He’s the only one who can save the USA this late but only if we humble ourselves and repent. With the national religion of pride chances are that won’t happen.

Cutting spending, cutting regulations is the path to GDP. Every economist knows this. But the politicians are afraid to say it for fear they will lose.

And every voter has their own sacred cow. If I say cut spending on the wall and Border Patrol many FReepers will call me bad names.
If I say cut welfare to the rich many will deny that the rich are getting welfare.
If I say cut welfare to the poor I am heartless...

and that is before the 3d rail of Medicare/SS is touched.

Then gen x, y, z are doomed to destruction. The debt will never be payed back, nor will those generations strive to work with such a burden that they will never receive.

The animus to the past promises will grow and the generational divide will continue via global wage arbitrage, ai, robotics and migration.
