God is smiting Turkey for its intransigence in allowing Sweden and Fenland join NATO.
Recep Tayyip Erdoğan is much like the protagonist in King Belshazzar’s feast, a Bible story in the Book of Daniel, in which the writing appeared upon the wall, “Mene, mene, tekel, upharsin”, as read by Daniel. Roughly translated as, “God has numbered your kingdom, and finished it; you have been weighed in the balances, and found wanting; and finally, your kingdom has been divided, and given to the Medes and Persians.”
Karma is such a b!+c#.
I see your god is a nasty little tyrant god at your personal disposal who delights in smiling people when their leaders do things you don’t like, burying helpless little babies and old ladies under concrete rubble and such. Christians don’t believe in Karma. It’s a Buddhist thing. I hope you don’t call yourself a Christian, as it’s ones like you who give us a bad name.
“ God is smiting Turkey for its intransigence in allowing Sweden and Fenland join NATO.”
Don’t attribute wacky theories to God.
Every person on the planet deserves to be smited for something.
Drawing an equivalence between Erdogan and Belshazzar is equating Turkey with Chaldean Babylon before it was conquered by Persia.
In what sense is Sweden and Finland’s entry into NATO similar? Are you claiming NATO is somehow equivalent to the Achaemenid Empire? Or perhaps to the Jewish diaspora during the Babylonian exile?
Because unless there’s a specific religious parallel you’re going for, I’m not seeing why the earthquake would specifically be a punishment related to **NATO**, of all things. (As though NATO is of a higher priority to God than actual sin.)
IF - and that’s the biggest word in the English language - God is smiting Turkey for something, it would be for something so trivial as delaying the admission of 2 nations into NATO. It would be for acting against Israel, the apple of His eye...and, on that score, Turkey’s government has been distinctly anti-Israel for quite some time.
That said, not everything has to occur because you say that God did it for X reason. God set up everything in nature, specifically including the tectonic plates and their movements, and most of the time He doesn’t intervene in events, He lets things take the natural course that He planned for things long ago.
I think that it is the height of arrogance to state in such definite terms that “God did X for Y reason” - and this applies to anyone who says this type of things, not just you. Take a step back and realize that God’s ways are not the ways of men, and that mere men cannot fathom more than a tiny fraction of what God’s will may be.
God does not work that way. You are projecting.
**God is smiting Turkey for its intransigence in allowing Sweden and Fenland join NATO.**
And God told you that directly? Are you a prophet of the LORD? Or are you assuming?
You need to be clear about the source of your claim.
Yes, God judges man, often using natural disasters, wars, pestilences, etc.
The earthquakes are the jv team compared to Fowchi and friends. When God gave David a choice of punishment for Israel, faced with either man’s judgment or God’s judgment, David chose God’s judgment; because God is much more merciful than man.
I do not believe God will do any smiting for a country playing pure politics.
If God was in the business of smiting a Country for refusing admission to a defense pack, God would have leveled the USA, Canada, the UK, and France/Germany and Rome before dropping to political reasons.
God cares about the soul and the morals, not politics.
