President Trump took a shot at Florida Gov. Ron DeSantis (R) in a Sunday statement posted to Truth Social, touting his superiority in the polls and railing on DeSantis for his policies during the Covid pandemic.
“The revelations about Ron DeSanctimonious doing FAR WORSE than many other Republican governors, including that he unapologetically shut down Florida and its beaches, was interesting, indeed,” Trump wrote. “DJT leading BIG!!!”
The president also shared a picture from another Truth user on Monday that included screenshots of headlines written in 2020, comparing his Covid pandemic policy against Gov. DeSantis’s. “Remember this?” Trump commented. “Some Republican states got it right, Florida got it wrong!”
The screenshot that Trump reshared on Truth Social.Trump’s remarks come after a busy weekend for the 45th president as he kicked off his 2024 presidential campaign on Saturday in Salem, New Hampshire, with a keynote address to the New Hampshire Republican State Committee. He also spoke at the South Carolina State House on Saturday afternoon, unveiling his leadership team in the Palmetto State.
“The Fake News Media was good yesterday in their coverage of my stops in New Hampshire and South Carolina,” Trump said on Truth Social. “Other than The Globalist Street Journal, which is rarely accurate or good, they said the day was really ‘amazing.’ The enthusiasm to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN has never been stronger.”
Trump has dominated primary presidential polling over the last few weeks, eclipsing Gov. DeSantis by double-digit margins among primary Republican voters. As reported by RSBN, a new poll from Premise found that 59 percent of Republicans preferred Trump as the Republican nominee in 2024, compared to only 24 percent who preferred DeSantis.
Trump also emerged the victor in the eyes of the American voters in a new Emerson College poll, which revealed that he had garnered 55 percent of support for the nomination, while Gov. DeSantis had accrued 29 percent.
President Trump told reporters onboard Trump Force One over the weekend that he would consider a presidential bid from DeSantis as a sign of disloyalty.
Trump stated, “He would have not been governor if it wasn’t for me – and that’s okay. Number one, he wouldn’t have gotten the nomination, and number two, he wouldn’t have beaten his Democrat opponent. So, then, when I hear he might run, you know, I consider that very disloyal.”
“If he refuses to defend himself or fight for the nomination, he is either not running or not qualified to fight for the presidency in the general election.”
DeSantis won’t be baited into a fight that would split conservatives at this point. A fight takes two. DeSantis has discretion, judgment and patience.

Trump is the nominee, it won’t be close, and the uniparty, globalists, GOP Establishment will do everything in their power to take him out.
They won’t just quietly turn a blind eye in 2024, they will openly engage in everything legally and illegally they can to stop it.

People choose to pile on and hate Trump so they reuse to see how DeSantis is being disloyal. Then they want Trump be polite like a wimp Republican if the type that’s gotten us into this disaster then they want trump to stop competing against DeSantis because he hasn’t decleared. Screw that. DeSantis can say he’s not running. He has not. Don’t waste my time
It's not customary to announce this far out, many believe Trump only did it as a ploy to hedge against his possible arrest. I'm not saying it wasn't the right thing to do, but just because Trump is in an almost unprecedented position of declaring so early, doesn't mean that anyone else is obligated to follow that timeline for themselves.

Loyalty is a two way street, and it depends on both being commited to the same issues. And DeSantis and Trump aren't necessarily on the same page anymore on several issues, especially the vaccine one. DeSantis has been saying quote "They lied to us about the vaccines" so does "they" include Trump?
For example, I'm sure there are a lot of Democrats who believe that Trump is being disloyal to the Democratic Party, which he once supported. Are they correct? Is Trump a disloyal person? By that definition, that one must remain loyal despite changes, then yes, he would be.

why would he back trump after trump acts like a spoiled brat and calls him names?...

Florida has a "Resign to Run" law on the books which means that DeSantis would have to resign his position as governor to run for president. The law has been lifted and reinstated several times, most recently in 2018 (where it was conveniently amended to include federal offices. Previously, the law only targeted state offices). Republican leaders in Florida's GOP-dominated Legislature have expressed interest in changing or rescinding the law, a move DeSantis will support.
Florida's legislature doesn't meet until March and then typically wraps up the legislative season in May.
Look for a change to this law later this spring after which point, DeSantis is widely expected to toss his hat into the ring.
Until then, all he can really do is "look like" a man who is planning on running without officially doing so (the main reason why DeSantis has warned people against donated to "Ron for President" organizations. There aren't currently any legitimate ones).

DeSantis can either declare and compete like a man or not declare, passively run for prez, pretend Trump will turn everyone off by the time DeSantis declares and compete like this wimp he is being. But Trump is the expert at letting his opponents hang themselves I don’t this DeSantis will beat him in that
