Oh I agree, and a lot of people on both sides are going to die because of Biden’s incompetency.
But I don’t see either side winning outright and I don’t see anyone else that could force the two to negotiate. Biden, the EU, Xi are all either incompetent or have no interest in making a deal.
Wishful thinking if you think we’ve got until Jan. 2025.
I imagine this thing will spiral out of control by then.
When I was a kid, my dad-was career AF-he was convinced that if Gen LeMay got what he wanted to do during the Cuban crisis-which was bring out the nukes-we would be in a bomb shelter for real-not a drill. Fortunately, JFK didn’t let him do it. When I was in my teens, he wanted to nuke N Vietnam into the stone age, never mind the blowback that would come from the USSR-he was an absolute lunatic-and there are some neocons that seem to be a bit like him-John Bolton comes to mind-also Lindsey Graham...

Mine concern is purely selfish. My son-in-law, husband to my daughter, father of my grandson could easily be deployed to support Ukraine. There is scuttlebutt about deployment already. He’s already been to a Charlie Foxtrot action at the Kabul airport. I didn’t agree with that and I can’t see how supporting Ukraine benefits any American. There is a potential downside from a family perspective, and for what? I do not have any trust in Biden, the Joint Chiefs, Pentagon and all the way down to BC level within the 82nd Airborne to wage war and win. I fully support our troops, but we don’t win wars any longer. We certainly won’t be motivated to win a war over Ukraine since there are no real interests, and particularly real interests the vast majority of Americans can identify off the top of their heads. That’s a repeating pattern since WWII and we lose because of it. We lose soldiers’ lives, limbs and we lose trillions of dollars.

Trump is correct. And it is a winning issue for him going forward.
One could make a strong argument that since Ukraine gave up its nukes in return for a promise that we would defend them from a Russian invasion, that we are in breach of that agreed to contract, the contract is void, and their nukes must be returned to heal the breach and make them whole.

I feel your pain after 38 years of active duty and DoD support all over the world. Plus my daughter and her husband doing tours in Korea, Afghanistan and Iraq.
Your not selfish in your thoughts. America should respond ONLY when the threat is clear to America and America’s interest. Cleaning up the world is NOT our job.
Europe needs to take of its own backyard. If they can’t or won’t then it’s on them what happens. NATO is the North American Treaty Organization. That’s been proven over and over. If Europe won’t do it’s part then the hell with them.
I'll have to bookmark this thread - it might make a nice reference the next time I'm called a "putin puffer" for suggesting that US involvement is unnecessary...

It’s a stupid question, because it assumes Russia would never use nukes, EVER, under ANY circumstances. Yet, it has been threatening just that for about a year (just as the Soviets threatened it back during the Cold War whenever they got their dander up). You may trust Russia; but I don’t. When I was in the USAF (1970-1974) I was in USAFSS (that was Air Force Intelligence back in those days). Our primary mission was to spy on the Soviets. We did. The Soviets were accomplished liars, and we knew it. You may say that Russia is not the Soviet Union. That would be simplistic, and false. Russia WAS the Soviet Union. Just as England WAS the British Empire, and England today IS the United Kingdon. Just as Rome WAS the Roman Empire. The heart and soul of an empire or kingdom is its founding and controlling element, without which that empire cannot exist.
History may not repeat, but it sure as hell rhymes. In 1938 the West said, “Sacrificing Czechoslovakia is better than war with Germany. Hitler doesn’t want anything beyond Czechoslovakia.” Well, Czechoslovakia WAS sacrificed and we got a world war anyway.
