“Meta announces Trump to be reinstated on Facebook, Instagram platforms”

Translation: We’re losing millions of users and dollars. Please, Mr. Trump, come back!

A good move toward free speech, but hopefully Trump will learn his lesson to be more cautious regarding what he puts in writing in future. The excuses for his ban were false, but could have been avoided if he’d expressed language more carefully. My concern is that Facebook is taking this action to stoke internal GOP tension given there is a good chance Trump faces a challenger in 2024.

I hope he rejects the reinstatement. Who needs them?

Reportedly Trump is ending his exclusive arrangement with Truth Social and will be posting again on Facebook/Instagram and Twitter. He will need the wider exposure to make a successful presidential run in 2024.

They didn’t ban him for anything he wrote. They banned him for the speech at the January 6 rally where he said protest PEACEFULLY AND PATRIOTICALLY. People came to the rally on January 6 to protest peacefully. And that is their constitutional right. There was no reason to ban Trump. The New Twitter has revealed that Donald Trump was permanently banned despite not violating ANY Twitter rules; that the execs, especially Roth and Gadde, were looking for reasons to ban him for a long time.

“However, we are doing so with new guardrails in place to deter repeat offenses,”

*************

Oh, so there’s guardrails for Trump but not for others who spout all kinds of vitriol and lies.

Truth Social SPAC: Sell, sell, sell. Down about 80% in a year.

$$$$$ always beats out the liberal narrative. They are looking at their bottom line and comparing the numbers as to those on their sites now versus when Trump was posting there. Both left and right followed Trump. More people equal more advertising dollars. Always follow the money!

Oh, they will present a pretty speech as to why he is allowed to return (”allow” a former President to speak on social media, huh!), but it all comes down to money.

It would be nice if Mr. Klegg had a clue about how arrogant and insulting his statements about reinstating Trump are to some 80 million of his fellow Americans particularly given that his company could use all the help it can get.

************************************************************

but Meta’s fall —and the message it sends about the company’s future — is really something. Meta’s stock price is now worth almost a quarter of the all-time high of around $380 that the company recorded late last summer. Meta closed January 23, 2023 at $143.27.

Meta’s all time high was 382.18 on September 7, 2021.

I agree that the reasons for banning weren't genuine. But that doesn't mean Trump couldn't have avoided the ban if he'd spoken more carefully. I don't agree that it's tech platforms' constitutional right to remove politicians, though. The First Amendment guarantees free speech, and with obvious exceptions such as threats and libel, written content should be allowed freely on tech platforms that act as a public square.

I TOTALLY agree! I wish Trump would tell them to F-off. They need him more than he needs them.

“...serious risk to public safety that existed in 2021”??

Yes, that would be the Biden presidency.

Did you hear that? It’s as if millions of blue-haired, gender-bent leeches of the state simultaneously looked to heavens and began screeching.
