I didn’t see this anywhere else but in Fast Facts on Heavy.com is said he is a Chinese immigrant.

Yeah. He’s from Vietnam apparently, hence the name. But he’s Chinese.

Could be from southwest China and uses a weird Vietnamese type spelling.

Tran is Chen in Mandarin. His name is 陳友艮。
