No way Russia gives up Crimea. It would be like ceding Moscow. The recent reports of the US supporting taking back Crimea will lead to escalation.
NATO’s Jens Stoltenberg yesterday at WEF:
“..More NATO troops on the Russian border is not a threat to Russia.”
On that basis I guess Russian missiles in Cuba and Chinese soldiers in Tijuana wouldn’t be a threat either.
“No way Russia gives up Crimea. It would be like ceding Moscow.”
Crimea is actually a peninsula of Ukraine. It has no physical or geologic connection to Russia at all. The closest point between Russia and Crimea is at the Strait of Kerch, separating the Black Sea from the Sea of Azov on a north-west axis; which also separates Ukraine from Russia on an east-west axis. Crimea is west of the Strait, in Ukraine.
Re: My post #114: I meant to say north-SOUTH axis, not north-WEST axis.
