The NHL is woke as hell. They even sponsor and fund trans hockey teams. I was a Flyers fan most of my life, but that came to an end when the Flyers removed a statue of Kate Smith over some “racist” song she sang in the 1930’s. Go woke and lose fans.

Same goes for the kneelers in the NFL. I tried to give the Eagles a look in the last game of the season. That’s the first time in several years. My view lasted until the first end zone shot on the television. Painted at the top of the end zone was, “End Racism”. I turned the TV off.

It’s funny how “God Bless America” is suddenly racist.

I understand how you feel. I have very mixed feelings about this stuff.

On one hand, you have these evil, satanic billionaires, who are trying to destroy society using their money and influence. And professional sports is just one of many areas where they are able to throw their weight around.

On the other hand, you have young gifted athletes, who are the best in the world at what they do, competing at the highest levels. They don’t care about this woke nonsense, but they’re not in a position to stop it.

The main reason I find it difficult to watch any games is the unbearably woke commercials for all things global and digital. Forget about sports, it just makes me depressed about the world. And like you, I can’t stand all the woke messages on the uniforms, etc, etc.

So my approach is to turn on a game every once in a while. Watch for a little bit, then go do something else. Then don’t watch anymore games for several days or weeks.

In other words, I’ll still enjoy sports, but only very sporadically. I won’t get sucked into caring about it.

I used to have half season tickets to see the Brooklyn Nets, because my son became very interested in basketball several years ago when he was an adolescent. I’m divorced, so this was a nice thing for us to do together.

Now, after the whole COVID/George Floyd nonsense, I just take him to a couple of games, and barely ever watch the Nets, or the rest of the NBA, on TV.

My point is that if everybody who was as into sports as I used to be was doing what I’m doing, all the pro sports leagues would be suffering financially. But it’s not necessary to do a complete cold turkey from sports.
