Just like the bitching about jets. F-18, F-16, no training…I got this!…
How do you know they have no crew training, or the rest of that? Many thousands of Ukrainians have trained in Poland, which has a considerable number of Leopard IIs. And in the UK, which has Challenger IIs.
I suspect theres a good reason these two types are being offered.
“Sure, anyone can hop in an Abrams or Leopard 2, drive it around the battlefield and shoot people with no crew training, no logistics/fuel/maintenance support structure, and no recovery vehicles.”
You are absolutely correct. Being an ex tanker in the late 70s and a tactical training consultant in the 80s I could probably get better than adequate in an Abrams with a day of 2 of intense training. Not so with a T-72 assuming i would fit. Just the reverse staring with having to train Ukranian leaders as well.
And the soviet system does not have the same level of battlefield armored retrieval.
