Former President Donald Trump lashed out at evangelicals for not supporting his latest presidential campaign, saying it was a “sign of disloyalty” after he appointed three conservative Supreme Court justices and made their long-held dream of overturning Roe v. Wade possible.
Trump, 76, told Real America’s Voice’s “The Water Cooler” Monday that the religious bloc of voters who were key to his 2016 victory have not yet come out to back his 2024 White House bid.
“That’s a sign of disloyalty,” Trump told host David Brody. “There’s great disloyalty in the world of politics, and that’s a sign of disloyalty.”

And apparently you do very well at any University or any Democrat run city in the United States
If he’s lost the evangelicals he’s finished.
Nah. I attach myself to ideas, not men. You may choose to follow Trump around like a puppy, but I have moved on since he has proven himself to be unworthy of the public trust. I tip my cap to his SCOTUS picks, but that will be his only positive legacy for me.
Donald Trump should be in the White House. The 2020 election was stolen, pure and simple. We know it, they know it, they know we know it and nothing was done.
It seems that a lot on this forum just 'want to move on', 'want Donald Trump to move on'; move on to what? 2024? Really? So another election is stolen?
2024 is not going to matter one wit unless we clean up the election system and it doesn't look like that's going to happen.
correct, I think he was the best president we have had in my lifetime and surely saved our country from god knows what with the hildabeast.
That said i don’t think he can win in 24 as too many just won’t vote for him, however I don’t suspect it will matter anyway if DeSantis runs and carries the primaries.
I don’t think Pence is running.
I thought Trump is trying to siphon off evangelical support? Probably trying to win another bloc.
I think that’s his plan. Hope I’m wrong.
I don’t know what he is talking about. There is and always will be a small segment of the evangelical community that embrace socialism - so they naturally would not support him. They take Christ’s command and with a twist of “logic” make it into state sponsored socialism.
I have said it again and again…they treat him like a King who must be obeyed (unless it’s his choice of McCarthy, e.g.). God-like worship. You won’t see criticism and any such will be summarily dismissed.
EverTrumpers don’t seem to realize this kind of fixation is no good, especially for one so deeply flawed.
This is what is important.
The Post isn’t a horribly leftist birdcage liner, but it is STILL media.
And the media are going to make us hate Trump.
Trump has an ego, we knew this since 1982. Nothing has changed except him leaving the leftist plantation to fight for the freedom and prosperity of his kids and grandkids. We’re lucky to come along for that ride.
Want someone who is him, but less egotistical ? We have Desantis.
Trump is a national hero and a treasure to me. I would march into hell with him. The man is a bit of a nut though.
Too late for Trump to change his ways. His ego is bringing him down in the polls. Sadly he will never be president again. Outside for Reagan, Trump was the best president in my lifetime.
Yes, but he won even more than just the ones who support socialism. Does he just want to keep the socialist ones, and jettison the rest?
It is a sign, but he’ll win the Primary without them.
He’s not helping his case.
You can’t attack the very people you want to support you in that manner.
It's a cult of personality, when all is said and done. Americans are increasingly susceptible to it, as our partisan political dynamic becomes increasingly tribal. We saw it in spades with Obama, but, if anything, I think the most hardcore of the EverTrumpers are worse, and probably more deranged than Trump is. And that is saying a lot.
Thing is, if the Park Avenue crowd back in the day had ever accepted Trump as one of "theirs," Trump may have still run for President . . . but as a pro-abortion, pro-homosexual, pro-gun control, wildly left-of-center Democrat. The irony is, the EverTrumpers, those who are most madly in love with the man, more or less represent a class of people who, until recent years, Trump himself utterly despised.
It would be funny if it weren't so pathetic.
The justices he brags on denied hearing his 2020 cases. Isn’t that a sign of disloyalty too?
The Christian vote is loyal to their principles. Not to any specific blowhard politician.
It is quite simple. Trump was more aligned with Christian loyalties. Now, he is not.
HE changed, not them. No surprise. He is NOT a principle driven politician. He is a populist, changes with the winds of perceived power. He blames Christians for the mid-term losses, his fix is for THEM to change and align with his new/latest position. Dick.
This shows what a self-centered jerk the Don is at heart. YOU are disloyal to him when you are loyal to your principles.
The I-Killed-Roe claim is utter BS. It's just typical Trump taking credit for the wind changing direction. He did virtually zero work to overturn Roe. McConnell did more, but still just doing his job.
Trump and we are simply fortunate that RBG too was an arrogant and selfish jerk, taking her solid death vote with her literally to the grave. And fortunate that two Bush pick justices turned out so dang good.
Dimwits?
You don’t seem to know much about how groups vote, the Evangelical Christians are the core of and the most dependable, 80% plus GOP voters.
Are you in the non-Christian category?
As you've been told repeatedly, Governor DeSantis will not declare his candidacy until after Florida's legislative session wraps up in May.
Trump himself didn't declare in his first run until June 16, 2015.
Don't worry. DeSantis has got plenty of time.
