I’ve seen people put them on at the door to the restaurant, go to their table, be seated and take it off.

This was common during the hysterical phase of Pandemic. The rules were you had to wear one, except while eating or drinking. So many people did exactly that including me. Put the mask on outside the front door, wear it to the table, take it off as soon as a glass of water is served. As for myself, I was just respecting the restaurant owners and the staff's jobs. I wouldn't want them to get fired or fined so I played the charade. No sense in me making a protest statement out of someone else's livelihood.

After about a year of the crap, I got real cantankerous and quit wearing them. Most people that asked me to put it on weren’t very nice. There was one exception — the owner of our local fruit stand. He took me outside for a private discussion, was so polite and nice about it, and explained his legal jeopardy with the county health kooks. I always wore it at his store after that kindness.
