If they are concerned about things that trigger asthma, just check out all the scented air fresheners, laundry detergents, dryer sheets, aerosol sprays, soap, shampoo, deodorant, perfumes, colognes, etc that kids are exposed to.

The emissions from gas stoves were all over the house for years when I was a kid and IIRC the asthma rates were not skyrocketing then.
