What should you wear to work if you’re nonbinary?
It may not be the most pressing question that gender-nonconforming people face on the job, but with approximately 1.2 million LGBTQ+ Americans identifying as nonbinary, employers and employees alike are exploring what professional attire can look like.
“I think people treat me with more dignity when I dress more masculinely, but people are way nicer to me when I dress more femininely,” said El Layla Johnson, 33, a former restaurant server who is now a therapist.
For Johnson, getting dressed for work has been a struggle since adolescence.
“I just feel like there’s a manual or rule book that people receive and that my copy got lost in the mail,” Johnson said.
Johnson recalled regularly crying while getting dressed for work at an upscale restaurant in Seattle. It wasn’t just that they found the restaurant’s dress code to be ugly. Johnson had a hard time finding clothes that fit at all.

What a sweet floof!
Good morning. Did you sleep well?
I’m in that stupid Stay Awake cycle so I feel totally worn out.
Nothing on the docket for today but a shower and writing to Charlie. We had more thunderstorms and either extremely heavy rain or hail last night, and today is just going to be overcast. As usual.
I’ve been looking at the weather in Hurricane and I need to stop. It makes me feel terrible.
Happy Friday, Wordle Fans!
I hope your day is a good one and that you’re preparing for a safe and happy weekend.

The last weekend in April! GAH! Time flies!
Ping to #2962!
(My bad.)
Don't feel terrible... feel hopeful!!
Good morning, and not bad. It’s bucketing down rain here, but DP says it will clear up in a few hours, so maybe it won’t pour on the Envirothon all afternoon.
Regarding that event, we have classes and activities throughout the school year, regional competition in March, and state competition in April.
Vlad got his hair cut yesterday. He’s not not very happy with it, but I’m telling him it looks great, because it’s so much better than the limp, stringy, late-Beatles ‘do he had. He can get it re-trimmed next week, if he wants.
Tom may be off work today because you can’t build parking lots or foundations in the pouring rain. Maybe he can clean the stove!
Just tell Vlad the difference between a good haircut and a bad one is about a week.
Yeah, that storm we had last night was really fast moving, so what you have may be over with sooner than expected.
Thanks for clarifying about Envirothon. When you first began years ago (Elen, USMC was just Elen) and I think Anoreth by that time was in the USCG, it seemed like it was not as big a deal as it is now. Maybe it was just new to everyone. Anyway, it helps to know that it’s an on-going thing.
Yes, there should be Tom-sized jobs today, even if one is cleaning the garage.
And now, it’s time for my shower. I’m cold.
Good morning. Happy Friday!
It’s chilly again, but the sun is out. We should have a nice day today of highs in the 60s.
There’s nothing on tap for the weekend, other than helping F-I-L out with whatever he comes up with tomorrow morning.
I’ve had better Wordle days, but I’ve had worse ones. If I were golfing I’d have probably thrown my clubs in the lake by now.

Best wishes for hot water!
Envirothon has gotten bigger state-wide, with more schools and more teams involved. Competition is stiffer, too, but we (Union County Homeschool) continue to do pretty darn well.
Thanks for the wishes but the hot water was tepid, at best and ran towards the cool towards the end, and I don’t take long showers here. The small tank says long, hot showers are not an option. You can bet that the first shower I take in Utah is going to be hot AND long!
Ah. That explains why it seems you’re all more involved in Envirothon than you used to be. And yes, from what you’ve posted here, I think Union County Homeschool is doing quite well. I’m proud of all who are participating!
Good job!
Right now, the sun is trying to shine, but the day has barely started (according to the sun.)
It’s nice that you help your F-i-L. What goes around....
I’m with you on the golfing/Wordle.
So. Much. TRUTH! LOL!
Yeah, that was funny, too.
The first time I saw it I was thinking it was supposed to be from a millennial who just wasn’t that bright. Then I got the joke.
I got an email that my stand-up desk had been delivered. But it hadn’t been delivered here. Fortunately, the person who stepped outside his door to find a 60 pound box in front of it came by to tell me where it was.
The box is a bit of a mess. It has those nylon straps around it and they’ve dug into the cardboard pretty deeply. Hopefully the product inside is OK. I’ll know after I finish owrk and can unpack it.
Oh, I hate when that happens!!
Now I’ll be on tenterhooks until Monday, waiting to see if the stand-up desk is intact.
Have a good weekend!
All the recipes I’ve tried to cook at this altitude have been total failures. I won’t try anything again until I get above 3000’, thanks. It’s too disheartening and too wasteful to try.
I just buried an entire batch of oatmeal cookies. The dough was tasty, like it should have been, but the first batch came out hard and dry. I shortened the time, but the third batch came out almost the same. I shortened the time again and there wasn’t much difference, so it all went into the trash.
I’ve never made a bad batch of cookies in my life until I moved here. And I’ve been using the same recipes since I was 10. Done. No more until I get moved.
Would I be repeating myself if I said it was raining?
A split-second power failure around 2100 last night was enough to make me have to re-set everything that was plugged in. At least the stove is now displaying the correct time — within a minute.
I’ll have to get dressed soon. It’s cold in here. I may turn the heat pump up a notch, just to dry the place out. Again.
Happy Caturday, Wordle Epople!
