The media will cheer him and praise him for his “honor”.

Then, they will turn to Trump and ask how can he run.

Exactly! Precedent set that even Presidents (&ex-) cannot hold office if they have taken top secret documents. Dems take the high ground by sacrificing a pawn they want to get rid of anyway.
