The robber, believed to be in his 20s, entered Ranchito #4 Taqueria in southwest Houston on Thursday night wearing a black ski mask and gloves before ambushing 10 customers and demanding their money at gunpoint.

Footage shows the shouting man wave what is believed to be a pistol around the restaurant, while customers drop to the ground and hand over their belongings.

Personally I think the guy went a little overboard but that's for a jury to decide.

Indeed - that late shot will be problematic with a jury.

Going to lock the door so nobody could come in. He figured he had control of the scene, so he was securing the exit. Or you could say, he was leaving because there were no bullets to carry out his threats. I won’t say he deserved to die, but the hero did the taxpayers and others who would be his victims in the future a favor.

They have a good pic of him standing next to his red truck. It shouldn’t be too hard for the law to find him. SOMEONE knows who he is…

I have mixed emotions about this. While he stopped the bad guy and everybody got there stuff back, he may have set himself up for a murder charge.
But that’s Florida- I’m in Illinois, what do I know?

We don’t know he was headed out the door, do we? There was a customer sitting next to the door. He could have been intending to shake that guy down again.

If he had shot him earlier while the bad guy was facing him, I believe it would’ve been justified.
Again, I don’t know Florida’s laws re. self defense.

“While he stopped the bad guy and everybody got there stuff back, he may have set himself up for a murder charge.”

He shot the guy 8 times in the back and then once in the head. I suspect he will be charged for something. Convicted? Maybe not. It only takes one jury member to stand up for him. So he may walk depending on the charge.

All the guy needs to do is keep his mouth shut for about 30 years...

Well, Ms. AORAHA, you know what opinions are like, and everyone has one, even you. I don’t see a vigilante, I see a hero protecting himself and others. The perp was not leaving. He was going to rob the last customer by the door. He was still a danger until he was shot.

“But that’s Florida- I’m in Illinois, what do I know.”

I know a few Chicago cops. They’d spend about 3 minutes looking for this guy.

He’s NOT a vigilante.

He did not go hunting down a criminal.

He defended himself and others in light of a potentially life threatening situation.

Well, they have to prove that he was actually leaving.

Yes, he was heading for the door and that is a reasonable conclusion, but how was the guy to know for sure that he planned on leaving and didn’t intend on turning around and shooting everyone in the place

Yes, we know it wouldn’t have happened with a fake gun, but that guy didn’t know at the time it was fake and you cannot take the chance and make that presumption.

So he may walk depending on the charge

Remember: "The process is the punishment".

If he is identified and charged with anything, he will be out at least $50,000 in legal fees even for an acquittal. A full-steam prosecution could run that cost up to ten times the amount or more. And if the DA uses the race card and can pack the jury with mostly Blacks and a few White liberal tokens he will be convicted of something. The outcome is determined entirely by who can control the jury selection.

I hope the police are not looking too hard for him. He deserves a community service award.
