Arizona is getting blessed deluges of well needed water as well. Never seen anything like it. They were reporting local lakes going from drying out to 5" inches above normal. Then they stopped reporting it.

I remember flying over Phoenix area sometime in the early 80’s. It appeared to be an island from about 30K feet.

They don’t even want you to capture rain water in 55 gallon drums on your own property - it’s a denial of the “rightful” water to the ground; yet in most places in California potable water does not come from ground water.
