Every house in California should have a rain barrel, and maybe a cistern too.

I don’t recall which states, but many have bans on collecting rain water. Apparently rain is owned by the state in some places.

So are you saying that for the rain to not drain, it should fall mainly in the plains?

Apologies, no outright bans except CO but some are regulated.

At least California doesn't require a permit for rainwater collection.

Even though California’s population has doubled the last forty years, they have built no new dams. In fact they have demolished some existing ones. All in the interest of the environment....

It’s racist to do things for one’s self. The correct way is for the government to take care of every person’s every needs.

Re 21, rain barrels are illegal in CA. The greenies want the water to go into the ground and eventually into the ocean.

Actually not so rare these days.

In early September my backyard becomes Lake Griffin.

You’ll be happy to know that Lake Griffin is now a ‘waterway of the United States’ and is now under the jurisdiction of the E.P.A.

Isn’t California taking out dams to save some obscure endangered fish?

The snowpack is at 175% of average. It won’t refill Lake Meade this year, but it will help a lot.

Ive often said that this large country should have a pipe solution that can direct excess water to a place where it can be redirected when needed.

Follow the California science .... blow up the dams and let the water dribble away into the sea.

They have not built a reservoir since 1979. That could be part of the problem.👀
