The rain needs to fall on the Sierras and then runoff to the coast. It appears the coast is getting the brunt of it.
Actually, they get snow.
Gibberish. Captain Obvious’ take on what happens when it rains. It’s rare you see an article so devoid of useful information
It is hitting the mountains also. The problem is they are sending the water to the ocean for species preservation. The choice is between water for farms and houses or sending it to the ocean so the critters in the rivers get all the water they want.
Here in Florida retention ponds for storm water are now required on new development.
In early September my backyard becomes Lake Griffin.
Because stupid people run California.
They can’t think outside of their green ideology.
So “that’s the rub.”
They could step pond dam rivers in sort of Chinese rice terrace style.
The fish already in a river would be happy and the salmon could jump their way home.
“… a large part of that does end up flowing out to the ocean.”
I bet the salmon are happy, anyways.
Absolutely correct! Dam is a dirty word in the Western USA.
Do you live near the actual Lake Griffon? The reason I ask is that there are some sketchy houses built along it that appear to be swamps and they probably sold it to people as "Lake View". Lol.
Californians b^tch about GW because there is a drought, then they b^tch about GW because it rains a lot.
California ski resorts are getting pounded w snow.
People (even Californians) before MudlickerFlipperDaubers...
Because California o
Got rid of many of its reservoirs
Just NPR (deep state) excuse for the fact that California, in spite of successive droughts, has failed to expand its resovoirs enough, and even, intentionally diverts to the ocean a ton of water that comes down the rivers and streams in the central valley.
Uh, nowhere to store it? The last major dam and reservoir were completed 50 years ago when the state population was half of what it is today.
But I’ll go with your answer.
“It’s rare you see an article so devoid of useful information”
Not when it’s an NPR article written by Mary, Erika and Lee.
“I bet the salmon are happy, anyways.”
I talked to a guy launching his boat today to go salmon fishing. Except he’s going after Kokanee, a land-locked salmon that never goes to the ocean nor fights its way back upstream to spawn. Our land-locked Kokanee are always happy.
Except when they spawn and die by the thousands.
A number of years ago kalifornia voters approved a big bond measure to build more dams. Needless to say the money got spent on everything but new reservoirs
