We all knew McCarthy would be the inevitable winner, but it still amazes me how far down our govt has sunk, even just in my lifetime.
The holdouts were holdouts for differing political reasons and never had even a shred of a plan to get anyone else in the chair. So, maybe I’m cynical but it seems to me this was all about grabbing a political spotlight instead of a real effort, and therefore a waste of a few precious days.
Move on....
Dems and their lapdog media will rub this in and set the scene with “continuing their disarray and chaos the Republicans again show the lack of leadership that has turned off the American public since their Speaker vote fiasco.”
In mentions several times a day every day all year.
Plus everyone against McCarthy will get shunned and their bills won’t get to a vote meaning their home district voters will see them as losers and vote against them. Bad.
Dems have socialist style lockstep unanimity. Dissidents get quietly “disappeared” offstage.
