“You don’t speak for me, you don’t speak for the Conservative base, nor for America, sir.”
I agree!
That’s valid for you too.
If there is debate in Congress there is obviously debate here on FR as well.
You and I, and all of us here benefit from freedom of expression.
Something that doesn’t exist in Russia, China, North Korea, Iran.
I think a deal is being done soon in congress.
Republicans MUST come together against the Democrat concrete block.
Americans want to see Congress at work.

Only 4 are voting against McCarthy. 4 is not a base.
I am talking about the VOTERS. Liz Cheney also got votes of confidence early on, except she couldn't leave well-enough alone and decided to play Ahab, and she wasn't worth enough to avoid censure from the follks who were her pals a little earlier.
I am sure the half-dozen Republican Representatives who "retired" early or got primaried out after voting to impeach Trump would have happily voted for McCarthy as well.

“AND THAT MCCARTHY WILL NOT PASS THE RULE CHANGES AS AGREED.”
I am certain the rule changes will be followed and respected.
Those rules are good for Republicans and America,
But now it’s time for Congress to start working.

UPDATE !
Massive and positively surprising change of tune from Gaetz a minute ago on Hannity!
He now appears to get along with a deal !! May this be true !
To: HamiltonJay
He will get them, the question is simply what exactly he's going to have to give to get them. <<<

surely there must be someone less distasteful to the base of the PartyI'm afraid the "base of the Party" is exactly what you are looking at when you see 200 McCarthy voters.
Hasn't it occurred to you by now that the elected Republicans ARE THE REAL REPUBLICANS, and that if you are still chasing the dream of turning the GOP into something it isn't and never will be, that it's YOU who is the "RINO"?

You’re the one who started off with an attack on Gaetz for not signing off on this corrupt bargain to install a corrupt RINO Speaker. You and I obviously do not share the same agenda or goals.

Indeed. The Soyboi Stalinazi Demonrats in Congress would be run out in short order if they had to fight real men. That’d only leave their testosterone-laden harridans to fight.

Well, that might have been true before the Reagan Revolution, but incumbents are trailing indicators of the base during a structural realignment.
There were many southern Democrats in the '70s, many who proudly voted for Jimmy Carter, who didn't have an essential change of thinking, but nonetheless became Republican over time.
Now, the Democrat party of Thomas Jefferson, Andrew Jackson, James Buchanan, even FDR, Truman, and JFK, would not recognize Obama or Biden as one of their own. That Party DID change. The Communists, lefty Academics and Hippies took it over while the southerns, free soilers and working class were focussed on more parochial issues.
Now, those displaced voters had to go somewhere. Some still believe the old myths. They will take another generation to ferret out, but the overturning of Roe will smoke out some of them.
Historically, the Republican Party has been patrician with an American bent, attracting both small and big business. We still have small business, but Big Business likes having effective control in both parties and is all too happy to be in alliance with government, even at the cost of its independence, if it locks in their position and cash flow (see Pzizer, Moderna ).
A large segment of the Republican Party is too comfortable with that arrangement, and decidedly UNCOMFORTABLE with "deplorables" who have a different set of cultural priorities.
Reagan started a hostile takeover of the Republican Party so cultural traditionalists, small government people and working class folks have a new home. So, yes, it is an open question as to whether Donald Trump, Pat Buchanan or Andy Biggs is the RINO, or if Liz Cheney, John Ellis Bush, Paul Ryan and Mitt Romney are. Both sides have had their successes. Both want to marginalize the intraparty opposition.
They have more money. We have more bodies in the field, and I'd like to think more integrity.
The next chapter is being written now, but I no more accept that the largely bought off McCarthy wing of the Party in the House represents the zeitgeist of the Base any more than Senators Lowell Weicker, Bob Packwood, John Warner or John Heinz represented the Base in 1980 when Reagan was elected.

Why then are there 200 RINOs in the House of Representatives?

A complete answer would require an entire thread unto itself. And they aren't all RINOs, some good folks either think that McCarthy is the best we are gonna get, or they don't have a champion worth spending political capital on.
I opened by stating that incumbents are a trailing indicator. When the needle moves enough, it will move like it did with Liz Cheney, THUD. We have to keep pushing. This is generational, and we may not win.

Here we have some members of the GOP finally shaking things up and you're not happy about it? Perhaps the DNC is more suited to your tastes since they are all in lockstep with each other.

I like what Gaetz did. I like that he pushed back, but what conservative was going to be elected? You have a name?
To: RichT398
McCarthy himself was/is the problem. They had countless other individuals who could’ve been elected. We could’ve made history with Byron Donalds and upended the Demonrats plan to install their Black Stalinazi Ha Keem as Speaker. Even Steve Scalise could’ve been a compromise, and a shining example of what happens to the victims of leftist violence fanned by the evil culture and media.
