Former Fox Business host and conservative pundit Lou Dobbs blasted former President Trump for throwing his support behind Republican leader Kevin McCarthy’s bid for House Speaker.
“Trump dismisses the 20 patriots challenging RINO McCarthy-says McCarthy will do “good” job-and tells them effectively to do what Swamp and Corporate Globalists order: Trump Backs RINOs and Swamp,” Dobbs wrote in a tweet on Wednesday morning.
The pundit was responding to a call from Trump for all Republicans in the House to vote for McCarthy for Speaker, after he failed on Tuesday three times to secure enough votes to win the top spot.
“REPUBLICANS, DO NOT TURN A GREAT TRIUMPH INTO A GIANT & EMBARRASSING DEFEAT. IT’S TIME TO CELEBRATE, YOU DESERVE IT. Kevin McCarthy will do a good job, and maybe even a GREAT JOB – JUST WATCH!” Trump said in a social media post early Wednesday morning.
Dobbs, a Trump loyalist during his time in the White House, also criticized Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.), who has voiced support for McCarthy and criticized hard-line Republicans in the House who have stood in the way of his Speakership bid.
“MTG is an unprincipled sell-out — and applauds President Trump as he disappoints his millions of supporters by aligning with the RINOs who’ve collaborated with the Marxist Dems and Deep State trying to destroy him,” Dobbs said of the conservative congresswoman who is also a leading supporter of Trump. “These 20 Congressmen deserve all our thanks, respect and support!”
Trump’s #1 problem is trusting who he knows; unfortunately Trump hasn’t been a conservative long enough to know which Republicans he knows are the RINO’s.
Lets fight this out. How is this an embarrassment? There is a struggle for direction and we now know who is willing to fight for the conservative agenda and who are for business as usual.
Trump goes with the most vote getters. McCarthy happens to have the most votes.
He’s just going to look silly and get blowback from this
McCarthy cannot possibly be speaker now.
He doesn’t have the votes !
Giving him a full throttled endorsement is a BIG mistake.

Dobson drops the hammer and was a big supporter of Trump.
Maybe they got him to cave. Its funny McCarthy is zealously willing to compromise with dims but deadset against doing it with conservatives.
If McCarthy has the most votes why isn’t he Speaker.
I hear there is movement. We’ll see. It’s still only the second day.
Trump thinking he can cozy up to the RINOS and they will start liking him? Very foolish.
I loved Trump but he was never strong concerning curtailing government spending.
Well he needs to have 218. But there is some movement apparently so we’ll see in an hour what they came up with.
I’m not sure what to make of this other than Trump is playing politics here for some reason I have yet to discern. The Republican party is in such a mess.
McCarthy cannot be speaker after all this and if he somehow pulls it off which I dont think he will he is irrevocably damaged in my view
Endorsing him and in the manner he did? Nuts.
Exactly, this is what I call good government. How many more losers can we deal with, from Dole to McCain, from Boehner to Ryan, From Souter to Roberts, when will we learn our lesson.
Probably but that’s why neither one of us is in politics. I know I couldn’t stand it.
KM only needs a majority of VOTES CAST.
So if enough Dems walk away and don’t vote, KM can win majority with fewer votes cast.
It’s a rough game. We’ll see what happens
