A) 9 GOP Hse mbrs or mbrs-elect sign a letter about McCarthy's offer to make concessions. "Regrettably, however, despite some progress achieved, Mr. McCarthy's statement comes almost impossibly late to address continued deficiencies ahead of the opening of the 118th Congress"
B) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "At this stage, it cannot be a surprise that expressions of vague hopes reflected in far too many of the crucial points still under debate are insufficient."
C) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "This is especially true with respect to Mr. McCarthy’s candidacy for speaker because the times call for radical departure from the status quo — not a continuation of past, and ongoing, Republican failures."
D) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "For someone with a 14-year presence in senior House Republican leadership, Mr. McCarthy bears squarely the burden to correct the dysfunction he now explicitly admits across that long tenure."
E) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "Thus far, there continue to be missing specific commitments with respect to virtually every component of our entreaties, and thus, no means to measure whether promises are kept or broken."
F) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "Mr. McCarthy's statement also continues to propose to restrict the availability of the traditional motion to vacate the chair as a means of holding leadership accountable to its promises"
G) 9 GOPers on McCarthy: "We have from the beginning made clear that we will not accept following..Pelosi’s example by insulating leadership..We also note that the statement fails completely to address the issue of leadership working to defeat conservatives in open primaries"
H) 9 GOPers: "The progress made thus far has been helpful and should guide our thinking going forward."
I) 9 GOPers who signed the letter: Perry, Gosar, Roy, Bishop, Harris, Clyde, & Reps-elect Luna, Ogles & Crane.

“We also note that the statement fails completely to address the issue of leadership working to defeat conservatives in open primaries”
Absolutely agree. Kevin McCarthy undermined conservative candidates and supported RINOs the same way Mitch McConnell did.
McCarthy needs to be defeated.
I hope the conservatives stand strong.
Then the GOP should have done it before or at the Conference in November!!!
The GOP leadership thought it could just bulldoze its way to the Speakership. But yeah, I know, at least they ain’t Democrats...LOL!!
I guess we're about to find out.
Then they could just not vote.
In order to win you only need a majority of the votes cast...not a majority of the House.
Any Republican that did vote for a Dem speaker is signaling the end of their career.
Surprised Gaetz’ name isn’t on there. And Norman’s.
Jim Jordan does not want it.
Which is exactly why he would be an excellent leader.
All of the McCarthy loyalists are in favor of the status quo and against reforming the Republican party.
To become Speaker someone has to receive a majority of the House votes. No Republican Representatives are going to vote for the Demon-crats nominee.
Oh, hell. Might as well re-nominate Nasty Nancy for the job. I’m sure they can find at least 6 RINO Congress critters to vote for her, which would give her the required 218 votes.
Assuming, as usual, that the left will vote en masse for a Demo-rat like the good lemmings they are.
Fantastic!
>>What is their desired end-game? No House speaker should be chosen at all?<<
The end game is the End liberal republican leadership and place a more conservative leaning representative in that role.
McCarthy, McConnell, McDaniels need to go! Enough of the betrayals from republicans in leadership.
Reading between the lines the nine Reps want something akin to the ability for a vote of no confidence for the Speaker of the House. They get that and they’ll be voting McCarthy.
McCarthy and his minions, who would be most directly affected by it obviously, don’t.
This is the way coalitions get assembled in the rest of the parliamentary world. Nobody may like the guy in charge, but nobody has a true majority of someone they can agree to be put in that leader spot, so they horse trade. Each small group gets enough of their own promises and goodies in place that they accept the guy in charge. It would most certainly make McCarthy a weaker Speaker, but it would also make him a more accountable speaker.
“I shed no tears if McCarthy does not become Speaker.”
as long as we don’t get screwed and a democrat becomes speaker then I will share your feelings but GOP does not always think things through
>>Can America survive 2 more years of Democrat destruction of Americas economy and freedoms?
Can America survive 2 more years of Assistant Democrats aiding in the Democrat destruction of America’s economy and freedoms?
Motion to Vacate the Chair:
But who is going to replace his candidacy? And will he/she have enough votes to become Speaker?
A Democrat. Only a handful of RINO votes required.

How about an Independant?
GO Bernie GO
Kevin is sickening in his thirst for power. Didn’t get the speakership last time because he had an affair with a member of Congress. Now he thinks he can get it again after sleeping at Frank Luntz house? Frank is working for ranked choice voting everywhere so no more conservatives.
