Back in the day the entire car worked great with only 3 electrical wires. Back in the day when your engine froze it usually meant you ran the engine without oil and had to replace it.

At least there’s a chance these cars will run again in April. If the melting ice doesn’t cause them to catch fire first. Pretty ironic.

“As someone here on FR posted, a lot of these articles have more to do with Musk/Twitter than the car.”

The left is trying to destroy him and UI’s here are helping.

Kind of like the $1+ billion fleet of NYC electric garbage trucks that can’t plow snow as they have no power.

“PT Barnum was right!”

Yep! A meteorologist in Canada that isn’t aware of car door handles freezing!

People finally learning basic physics but at their own expense. Shouldn’t have bought into Musk’s EV trash.

Yep. There many non Tesla EVs, but oddly they don’t seem to be having any issues. Hmmmmmmm. 🤔

Tesla handles are a little different.

They are flush with the door surface and they are electronic............

I think that as more and more people have real world experience with EV’s, the shine will disappear. They will still be a good choice for some people, but their meteoric rise to general acceptance will be a meteor crash. Big crater.

You can bet it was not just Tesla EV’s with all these problems. EV’s are not going to function well in the cold. Its science plain pure and simple. Many times here I have brought this up only to be jumped by all the EV lovers.

Just remember that the Media and the left hate Elon now(for exposing them) so every story is going to be about Tesla’s.

While attending law school, my friend had a Mercedes 300D painted in Rommel brown. He'd often forget to plug in the heater when temperatures would drop below zero. I'd invariably be summoned to pick him up in my crummy yellow and black Dodge O24.

“we bought it because it’s most efficient for most of our transportation knowing that every now and then we need an ICE vehicle for times an EV won’t cut it.”

that is the curent reality.

EV’s are great for many folks in many circumstances.
But not everybody, all the time.

That crew-cab Dually with the Monster Diesel is great for lots of stuff, but economically going on in-town errands all day is not one of them.

In an All-of-the-Above world, EVs have a place and a soiid future.
And they are getting better by the day

Wait until it gets 20° below zero. No electric car will move unless they are parked in heated garages.

Electric by itself isn’t so bad but the battery is the Achilles Heel. That’s what the early adopter numbskulls can’t get through their head.

For example an electric door actuator. Any ideas of what could go wrong here?

What happened in the Tesla is a microcosm of what we can expect to happen in the real world without fossil fuels.

Thank you for referencing that article Oldeconomybuyer. Please note that the following critique is directed at the article and not at you.

"Furious Tesla owners are blasting the company over how their high-end cars are not functioning in extreme weather, as the recent Arctic freeze left their door handles frozen shut and the electric vehicles unable to charge."

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Caveat emptor.

EVs still need to be pioneered and "domesticated" imo.

In the meanwhile, beware of special-interest investors who work in cahoots with corrupt lawmakers to criminally abuse government power by using it to force consumers to buy a junk science product as a remedy for a government-manufactured crisis.
