Universal suffrage is a prelude to ruin and open up enemies within the gate. The office of the presidency or any other public office (Public servitude) are not human entities so how do you respect a non-entity especially by default. Its the person in that office which creates the reflection of that office, hence, the only respect that should be shown is the one occupying the office. Citizens, if the are aware and reasonable, should be eternally vigilant against any and all public servants. How is a citizen a friend if they vote to pick your pocket and vote for establishing a strong degree of force to control how you live and what to believe. I getting boot-licking vibes from the respect aspect, etc...

I see what you are saying. I will try to elaborate. The Office of the President, is the highest office and the elected leader. I respect the office enough for what it stands for and its ideals. Some come into the office and represent the best of us. Some occupants grow into the ideal. Some never make it. I think the past 2 did not make the ideal. It doesn’t make them bad Americans or traitors, just poor presidents. It doesn’t diminish what the office is and can be. And both sides can be accused of using force to control how you live and believe. Would banning abortion (which I would implement in a minute) not force a segment of the citizenry to abide by beliefs they don’t believe in? Are Republicans my friend that pick my pockets to fund a bloated military that is 5x larger than we need?
