I was surprised within the last week to see an auction of fixtures in a Walmart that closed in Nov.

It’s in a suburb of Pittsburgh.

When I looked at the items, one was the anti shoplifting gates.

Walmart doesn’t install those in everyone of their stores. Just where the shrinkage is off the chart.

The Walmart Neighborhood Market near me put them in, then took them right back out. When it was first built, the beer, wine, and liquor (in New Mexico you can buy the hard stuff at grocery stores, pharmacies and gas stations) isle closest to the door. Then they blocked the cashiers' view of that isle with shelving. One night, a few months after they opened, I saw a group of five or six guys run out with armloads of liquor and suitcases of beer. I walked in and asked the lone cashier if she'd just sold a bunch of alcohol to a group of guys. Nope. Didn't even know they were there. Several years later and they've done nothing to fix it. I feel like a schmuck scanning my own groceries and paying for them when they don't even go after the actual thieves or even do things to counter the theft.
