LATEST: Schumer breaks Title 42 spending bill logjam with Sinema’s help
The Hill ^ | 12/22/22 9:44 AM ET | BY ALEXANDER BOLTON

Senate Majority Leader Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) announced Thursday morning that he’s reached an agreement with colleagues on amendments to the 4,155-page omnibus so the Senate can pass the bill later in the day and give the House a chance to act Friday.

And it looks like his savior may be independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema (Ariz.), who on Thursday introduced an amendment to increase border funding and resources for border communities and extend the Title 42 health policy that expedites the deportation of migrants seeking asylum in the United States.

Sinema’s amendment could give political cover to centrist Democrats to vote against a proposal sponsored by Sen. Mike Lee (R-Utah) to cut funding for Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’s office unless the Biden administration reinstates the Trump-era Title 42 policy.

Democrats say Lee’s amendment would sink the omnibus in the House if it passes the Senate.

Schumer said on the floor that senators and staff had worked until 2 a.m. to work out a deal on amendments but failed to reach one.

Then, just before 10 a.m., Schumer announced a deal with Republicans to vote on a block of 15 amendments, giving the Senate a chance to pass the $1.7 trillion omnibus later in the day.

That would give the House a chance to vote Friday to send the legislation to President Biden’s desk.

“We have an agreement now. We will vote on all of the amendments in order and then vote on final passage. It’s taken a while, but it is worth it and I appreciate the cooperation of everyone here,” Schumer announced on the floor.

The block of amendments he announced includes Lee’s proposal and Sinema’s side-by-side amendment, which is co-sponsored by Sen. Jon Tester (D-Mont.).

Joe manchin in a dress…. I wonder if she can write a more aggressive anti 2A bill like Manchin did under Obama. Maybe he can give her some pointers on being a Democrat puppet.

Oh Sinema is gonna switch. She’s finally seen the light. Nope.

Oh Manchin is gonna switch. He’s finally seen the light. Nope.

If Sinema actually cared about the people of Arizona, in some way, she’d be doing anything and everything she can to figure out a way to overturn the results of that gubernatorial and AG election. If she doesn’t, regardless of what happens with that omnibus monstrosity, her state is on its deathbed.

Biden won’t need to sue to take down the containers. Hobbs will do it herself and the new AG won’t prosecute anyone, for anything. Phoenix and Tuscon become just another violence ravaged city in the country and everything goes down the sh*tter, a la Chicago, LA, SanFran, NYC and all the others.

Amazing how so many are so easily duped by these POSs.

Sideman and Schumer are both Deep Statecand always will be.

Interesting, though, that Deep State seems to have given up on trying to pass off Sinema as anything other than a Deep State handmaiden.

Time will definitely tell with her. She’s not in that game anymore and she can speak freely and think for herself.

I’ve read many comments about how radical she was concerning abortion, guns and a few other things.

Well, I recently saw video of her in some type of 3-gun type, shooting match. Not something an anti-gun person does, IMHO.

She went to Syria on her own and spoke to the locals on the ground, when chemical weapons were being used. At that time, the war hawks wanted to destroy Assad. The story she got from Syrians was 100% of what the MSM and the war hawks were barking about. Upon arriving home, the hag Pelosi was none too pleased.

I watched a clip of her on Rogan where she talked about how incoming Congressmen/women are more or less trained/told not to work with the other side, no matter the issue.

So, maybe she actually has seen the light. Or maybe, now that she’s not there anymore and sees how real people live, doesn’t have a bunch of staffers running errands for her, saw firsthand how dirty they all are, how it’s the career staffers that write the bills according to their agenda and the politicians just party and collect money, she had enough.

Time will tell. Personally, I don’t think she would have won, but in 2016, I think she would have given Donald Trump a legit run for his money in any debate. She wouldn’t have needed that black lady to provide questions and answers beforehand.

They need to take that wasted $42 billion for Ukraine and re-direct it to the border—fully fund the wall along the full length of the border, put armed troop on the border until it is complete, and simply state that anyone crossing illegally will be turned away, needs to instead go to consulor office or embassy in Mexico or elsewhere first. No one enters the US without authorization. AND NO CATCH AND RELEASE, NO WORK PERMITS.

Winner Winner Chicken Dinner.....

Oh wait, “we” did and too many are being railroaded and rotting in a jail for misdemeanors.

A jail so bad that the US Marshal’s removed 100s of folks in there.... https://www.reuters.com/world/us/us-marshals-remove-400-detainees-dc-jail-due-poor-conditions-2021-11-02/

Those folks sit there, while there are people that have been charged with Murder, Rape and Robbery walking around, out on bond.

"4,155-page omnibus [???]"
FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponent’s Argument

Congress's constutionally enumerated military responsibilities aside, it doesn't take a 4,155 page bill to run the US Postal Service, one of the very few powers that the states have actually given to the feds to appropriate taxes for.

In other words, most federal domestic spending and foreign aid is based on stolen state revenues, including money from citizens' wallets.

Thomas Jefferson had given us fair warning about corrupt federal government.

“Cherish, therefore, the spirit of our people, and keep alive their attention. If once they become inattentive to the public affairs, you and I, and Congress and Assemblies, judges and governors, shall all become wolves. It seems to be the law of our general nature.” - Thomas Jefferson (Letter to Edward Carrington January 16, 1787)

Basically, don’t do anything about the root cause of the problem; just throw more money at the symptoms. Is that it?

You mean like instead of increasing energy production we reduce it and print money to pay people "assistance" thus compounding the demand problem and adding inflationary pressures due to the increased money supply.

Good for her but that does not make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear - nothing can.

Sinema’s amendment cannot cover up the garbage in the bill nor does it excuse the sheer monstrouse financial weight of it. As the Fed seeks to tampen down inflation, Congress is handing Biden more gasoline to pour on the existing flames of inflation and insuring the portion of the federal budget just to pay interest in the federal debt will continue to climb, with climbing interest rates for that debt.
