Senators confident bill to block election subversion will become law

The ECA reform also blocks most, though not all, routes to submitting false or fake electors to Congress. Under the new law, only a state’s governor can submit electors to Congress, which prevents “the potential for multiple state officials to send Congress competing slates,” according to a summary of the bill.

Of course, if a governor went rogue and refused to recognize the will of the state's voters, and submitted electors to Congress who did not represent the popular-vote total, that could still create a crisis.

...

Seligman began studying the ECA in 2016, after Trump said during the presidential campaign that he might not accept the result if he lost. Seligman and other scholars say the current ECA, which was passed in response to the disputed election of 1876, gives too much room for bad actors to deliberately misinterpret its language in an effort to throw out legitimate elections.

What Trump did is so illegal and seditious that they have to pass a law to make it illegal…

The Constitution allows individual states to select electors however they desire. A state can decide based on which team wins the Super Bowl, a coin-toss or a poker game.

The spending in the bill is cover for what Deep State really wants: to ensure that we never restore the republic through free and fair elections.

In short, Deep State is removing the ballot box option.

Mrs rktman’s plan of one county one EC vote is the only way that 90% of the country would be truly represented. Whichever candidate wins the county wins that counties EC vote. At least the democommies would have to work harder in the rural areas if nothing else. Just look at the map showing red vs blue counties. Yeah, I know. Pipe dream. We certainly don’t feel as if we have any representation in CONgress. Unfortunately we live in a blue county. One of two in the state.

What the Democrats did was so illegal that they have to act uber outraged at anyone who calls them on it.

I would agree one-county-to-one-EC-vote, but you have several states with a huge abundance of counties (TX at 254) and some with few counties....Delaware with 3.

If you are going radical with this idea, I’d also toss in the idea of one Senator per state, and lessen their importance by 90-percent (mandating 90 days of the year when they can’t be in session).

The bill they are revising has long been unconstitutional, so will be this version. Can’t overturn the 12th with a mere bill. Eastman is correct.

Matching up the counties to the number of Congress Critters would be a nightmare.

We are no longer a republic.

Constitutional is whatever Deep State says it is.

As always, the bill will do the exact opposite of what it’s supposed to do. It will institutionalize fraud.

The ECA reform also blocks most, though not all, routes to submitting false or fake electors to Congress. Under the new law, only a state’s governor can submit electors to Congress, which prevents “the potential for multiple state officials to send Congress competing slates,” according to a summary of the bill.

That makes the law flat-out unconstitutional, as state legislatures have reserved to them the method for choosing electors. That includes, in my view, the ability to choose a competing slate if there is evidence of election fraud.
