DeSantis’s calling himself after Theodore Roosevelt is the one big reservation I have with him.
Every aspect of the deep state and big government today owes its existence in one way or another to Theodore Roosevelt.
We have a big problem here. There’s the Teddy Roosevelt that exists in everybody’s heads, and then there’s the Teddy Roosevelt that actually existed and was actually a terrible constitution shredder.
Constitution shredding hasn’t been a part of DeSantis’s record(thankfully), but all of this needed to be said. Teddy Roosevelt’s big government record is absolutely alarming and worth discussion with an alarming tone.

His six years as congressman and four years as governor should remove all reservations ...
Conservative doesn’t mean anarchist or Captain planet villain. I don’t have a problem with basic protections like not paving over every forest we see for a stripmall and making sure cockroaches aren’t allowed in our hamburger meat. Just because we go way overboard today doesn’t mean things didn’t need a bit of regulation in 1900.
