This is a silly discussion to be worrying about anyway. We’re clearly in a post-constitutional environment now, and academic debates about the wisdom of a particular quote are just a pointless sideshow.

When a gang of thugs invades your home and starts beating you while stealing your stuff, you don’t stand there and try to debate the law and the rules of boxing with them. At that point, the time for those things is long gone. All that you can do is fight back (hopefully possessing the proper “tools”) and eliminate the threat.
