Lot’s of people got rich off of the taxpayers. That’s what freedom is all about.
Our initial approach was correct. We worked closely with the Northern Alliance. We should have left it that way. The only problem was that we had some unfinished business with Osama bin Laden. We needed a base to operate in the country and to find bin Laden so we can deliver payback for 9/11. Maybe just take Bagram Airbase and fortify it and just tell Northern Alliance to do whatever they want but it would be a failed state similar to Somalia and it would be difficult for the Americans to operate in an environment like that.
