Twitter searches for the widespread Covid-19-related protests in China are returning a flood of spam, pornography and gibberish that some disinformation researchers say at first glance appear to be a deliberate attempt by the Chinese government or its allies to drown out images of the demonstrations.
Beginning late last week and into Monday, searches in Chinese for major protest hotspots, including Beijing, Shanghai, Nanjing, and Guangzhou, produced a nonstop stream of solicitations, images of scantily clad women in suggestive poses and seemingly random word- and sentence fragments. Many of the tweets reviewed by CNN on Monday came from accounts that had been created months ago, follow virtually no other accounts and have no followers of their own.

I went to Twitter and searched for "China Protests."
I scrolled through pages and pages of results, and I found hundreds of videos showing rioting and protests, but NOT ONE BIT OF PORN WAS TO BE FOUND.
C'mon, elon. If they say there's a bunch of porn clogging up the search results, then by golly there aught to be a bunch of porn clogging up the search results!

If I actually saw porn every time I read this story, I might be considered a porn addict. No porn in my search results. 0. None.
Predictably tepid response from our media and the left over these historic protests. They know they’ve got covid tyranny in their own closets.
I took a picture of a large bridge construction project in Laos over the Mekong River. It was a China Railway bridge and it was a Chinese contractor.
I pisted the picture on Facebook and 30 minutes later it was removed.

I’d guess that CNN’s researchers saw porn because that’s what they regularly search for. The AI has learned their preferences.

I just did a Twitter search of China Covid protest and nothing like CNN claims came up. It was all about China protest Covid. This is fake news, as usual.
I wonder if we’d even know about these protests and lockdowns if it weren’t for Twitter being seemingly liberated.
I know we’d get news from various other sources, but it’s kind of strange that China is being exposed on a world-wide, mainstream media outlet. Not many people know about what’s going on there.
