I recently read a book called Matzo Ball Gumbo about Jews living in the South. What made them successful was networking and helping each other. If they weren’t accepted in clubs, they started their own clubs and made sure they were successful.

So Jewish in-group preference is OK, but if white business owners do it, it is illegal and Affirmative Action laws will be used against them?

Because that seems to be where we are at today.

Pappy, you’ve described the Borscht Belt in the Catskills of NYS. Jews settled there and built a local network. Jews from NYC discovered the area and soon it became the summer vacation spot for every Jew in NYC and it boomed. Most of the old Jewish singers, actors and comedians got their start in the Borscht Belt. People like Mel Brooks.

apillar, so true.
Mel Brooks described in an interview how some savvy Jewish investors started up this little place now called Hollywood. Then they made movies about what they imagined every day American life was. They leaned heavily on the Jewish performers who had honed their talent in the Jewish clubs throughout the country.
