That’s a little confusing. If you’re working for the Wagner Group, you’re not a volunteer. You’re a mercenary.
The US created the modern PMC during the war on terror. I posted that I think using merc companies was a horrible idea that always leads to blow back.

Now we are seeing more and more former NATO troops go the merc route. It will get worse.
If that statement about a Marine General is true (Which to be fair, I do not believe it is), then it is only what we should expect.
And when this guy gets killed…he will just be another check on a list.
