Both the legislatures of Oregon and Idaho, as well as the U.S. Congress, have to approve the cession of the conservative counties. Oregon’s legislature is controlled by Democrats. The new U.S. Senate will have 50 or 51 Democrats. This is a fantasy.
They should be able to secede and join Idaho....but of course neither Oregon nor California will want to give up the real estate or the tax revenue so they won’t let them.
Tell it to West Virginia.

Wish we could do that here in MO. It would be easy since half of KC is already in Kansas and St Louis is right up against IL. I think it should be a nationwide effort. Cut off all the major cities and turn them into mini states. They would fast become mini-failed states.
The people who move to avoid others (as American Secession by F.H Buckley, 2020) are sidestepping war with them. He said to invest in UHauls. Moving apart, secession (highly unlikely to pull off) or war.
Buckley slandered Trump on a recent radio interview and he is persona non grata to me.
I think it could be defined even between those within the city limits and outside the city limits. Here in Michigan, the vast majority of the state is deep red, except the highly densely populated blue cities, which carry the politics of the state unfortunately.
Perhaps this is why the original intent of the constitutional voting rights were restricted to land owners. Those who have something to risk and lose, and are not just going to live off the redistributed wealth of others.
