Mortality was excessive. Prevaccine it was sky high. There are true believers on both sides of the scientific and political debate. One thing this has shown me is that the sciences and the politics should never be mixed.
The thing that concerns me is the lack of checks on things that are just just patently wrong. There are very fundamental laws of biology that because everyone including you and me had an interactive place for argument can become impassioned and inflame.
Above someone I generally disagree with who I respect in terms of opinion and it’s fun sparring with him opined he looks through the lens of common snake. While I often say to my patients a great amount of things is obvious, sometimes scientific method throws a curve ball. I suppose the classic story is common sense was geocentric and it was out of left field with Kepler and Galileo that the common sense was set on its head.
I just rewatched the pilot of newsroom. Clearly an anti tea party liberal show. But the opening monologue rang true. We are not the greatest country. But we sure could be. There was a time when we made laws and struck down laws for moral reasons. We made ungodly scientific advances, built the worlds greatest economy, explored the stars, and we weren’t afraid. We were not defined by who we vote for. We were informed. And we revered knowledge. And great men.
I know what I observed and saw. People who never stood in what I saw instead called me a liar and a fraud. It’s ok I know the truth. I also see things for what they are. Now the vaccination campaign I would agree is governmental tyranny. But the effects of the vaccine are unequivocally not what is broadcast with great passion and vigor here. I keep my eyes open and the most common question I ask myself is am I wrong or missing something. But the evidence for a lot of stuff posted simply is not there.
As for the politics I think the government will always try to expand control. America is no longer great. It’s mediocre as it is descended to tyranny. That’s why the guy with the red hat resonates. American spirit demands the belief that America is the greatest country on Gods green earth. Because it’s governed of for an by the people. When this is transgressed, we fall.
Trump resonance precisely because of his Americanism and patriotism. Were he to stop unforced errors, he would be better the Reagan. Business is the art of the deal. Politics is the art of the possible. Not the same thing.
