Maybe the headline should be Wildfire Arson down 85%?
Actually, the number of arsonists caught and arrested this year in CA increased. I’m unsure if that means there were more arsonists or law enforcement had a good year apprehending them, perhaps a little of both.
Also, we did not have a lot of red flags/weather events conducive to big fires.
Also on the plus side, most arsonists don’t know what they are doing, fortunately. The often don’t pick weather or terrain conducive to a large fire.
