Having sat through, and given, several depositions over my lifetime (none of which litigation I was a party to) that is what lawyers tell you to say. “I cannot recall”, and “do you have any documents that might refresh my memory” after which you basically say “I can’t recall” again.

Why is anyone surprised?

His exaggerations and hyperbole back in the 1980s during the AIDS pseudo-scare should have gotten him fired or at least relegated him to the basement. He never should have been allowed access to the press ever again. This was no secret! Putting him in the limelight again is all on Trump!
