In the assessment of the Finnish Border Guard, the changed security environment has made it necessary to construct a barrier fence along part of the eastern border," the border guard said in a statement.
"If Russia reduces its border control, this may cause additional pressure at the Finnish end to control illegal entry. Finland cannot rely on the effectiveness of Russian border control," the statement said.
The planned border fence will stretch for a distance of about 81 to 162 miles — only part of the 830-mile-long border it shares with Russia — and will come with accompanying surveillance equipment and a patrol road as well.The construction of such a fence is expected to take three to four years and it can endure for roughly 50 years, according to the Finnish Border Guard.
A pilot section will be built in Imatra starting in spring 2023.

Hungary built a border fence a few years ago. The EU roundly criticized Hungary for doing that. Bad Hungarians! But the EU is evidently okay with Finland building a border fence.
So I guess it’s okay to build a fence to keep Russians out, but not okay to build a fence to keep Muslims out.
I think it might take more than a fence. Russia is starting to get nostalgic about the days when they ruled a dozen smaller countries. And they’re starting to get real friendly with the Butchers of Beijing...who are in the process of colonizing Africa and the Pacific.

They taught us in the Marine Corps that no obstacle is effective unless covered by observation and direct fire. That would apply to our own border wall as well. Just sayin.

Any serious person knows China is a military "paper tiger" without Russia's technical experience and know how, so why is the West forcing a Russian/Chinese alliance ?
They don’t unless they a manned. Even at that, the heavily fortified Maginot Line didn’t deter the Germans. (Of course, the Germans just went around it.) Any bunker system can be easily broken with modern weapons.

The Chinese have not yet forgotten about Outer Manchuria and in other news, Putin’s war has jacked up the price of many Chinese imports just as the average Chinese guy was taking a liking to a few bits of meat in his rice bowl.
